AFC Leopards SC, a prominent club in the FKF Premier League, has been eliminated from the FKF Cup due to fan misconduct that led to the abandonment of their match against Mara Sugar FC on March 8, 2025.

The game, held at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu, was stopped in the 89th minute after angry AFC Leopards fans entered the pitch to protest a controversial decision by the referee.

The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee found AFC Leopards SC responsible for the incident due to the inappropriate behavior of their supporters.

In their statement, the committee noted, “AFC Leopards SC fans, through their misconduct, caused the abandonment of the match after they invaded the field to protest against the referee’s decision to overturn a previously awarded penalty.”

As a result of this ruling, Mara Sugar FC has been awarded the victory and will advance to the next round of the competition.

The ruling stated, “Since the abandonment was caused by this incident, and in accordance with Article 6.4(iv) of the FKF Cup Regulations in conjunction with Article 3.5.6 of the Rules & Regulations Governing Kenyan Football, AFC Leopards SC shall forfeit the match, allowing Mara Sugar FC to proceed further in the tournament.”

The federation will provide a detailed report explaining the reasons behind this decision, which will be released within 21 days.
