African digital transformation leader Phungela has entered a strategic partnership with global airport technology provider AeroCloud, aiming to bring modern, cloud-native solutions to airports across the continent.

The collaboration combines Phungela’s deep local knowledge and delivery expertise with AeroCloud’s proven platform, which currently supports over 80 airports and 78 airlines worldwide, handling more than 360 million passengers annually.

The partnership will help African airports move away from outdated systems toward more agile, data-driven operations. Airports are expected to benefit from improved efficiency, better passenger flow, enhanced resilience, and the ability to increase capacity without costly infrastructure investments.

Under the deal, Phungela will lead local engagement, implementation, and support, while AeroCloud provides its cloud-based software and hardware designed to optimize airport operations. Together, the companies aim to deliver end-to-end digital transformation, offering real-time visibility, predictive insights, and improved coordination among airport stakeholders.

Nkululeko Mhlaba, CEO of Phungela, said, “Airports are vital economic gateways, and modern, scalable operations are essential. By combining our regional expertise with AeroCloud’s platform, we’re enabling African airports to operate more efficiently and future-proof their systems.”

AeroCloud’s platform supports key functions like gate and stand management, passenger flow optimization, and real-time decision-making, allowing airport teams to unlock capacity and improve performance without heavy investment.

George Richardson, CEO and Co-Founder of AeroCloud, added, “Phungela is the ideal partner for Africa. Airports need both innovative technology and trusted local insight. Together, we are ready to support airports as they evolve into more connected, resilient, and passenger-focused hubs.”

The partnership signals a new era for Africa’s aviation sector, emphasizing smarter operations, digital innovation, and long-term capacity building.
