Liberty Kenya has announced a contribution to early childhood education in Nakuru County, donating desktop computers, laptops, and ergonomic classroom chairs valued at approximately KES 350,000 to Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) Primary School.
The initiative highlights the company’s dedication to expanding digital literacy and promoting equitable access to quality education from a young age.
The donation includes computers equipped with Scratch, a globally recognized visual programming platform developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Designed to introduce young learners to coding with an intuitive interface, Scratch encourages early development in logic, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The initiative supports the existing Curriculum Based Education (CBE) programs, fostering critical computer skills among early learners.
Alongside digital tools, Liberty Kenya provided a set of ergonomic ECDE chairs specifically designed for young children. These age-appropriate, comfortable furnishings aim to enhance classroom focus and learning engagement — essential factors that influence long-term educational success.
This philanthropic effort aligns with Liberty Kenya’s broader sustainability strategy, supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduced Inequality).
It also reflects the company’s evolving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, emphasizing social investment in education as a key driver of inclusive growth.
RVIST, a well-established technical and vocational training institution recently awarded National status, supports the primary school as part of its community engagement initiatives.
Many students are children of RVIST staff and members of the surrounding community, making this donation impactful on both a personal and institutional level.
Kieran Godden, Group CEO of Liberty Kenya, stated, “This investment underscores our belief that quality education begins with access to the right tools, from the very start. We are committed to creating sustainable outcomes, including narrowing the digital divide and empowering young Kenyans to thrive in a changing world.”
Principal Eric Owino of RVIST Primary School appreciated the support, noting that the resources would strengthen the school’s ability to implement modern, technology-enabled learning and prepare students for the global stage.
County MCA Hon. Alex Langat also commended Liberty Kenya’s contribution and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration with local stakeholders.
Liberty Kenya maintains its commitment to education through its flagship scholarship program, which offers comprehensive sponsorship for high school and university students and facilitates pathways to gainful employment upon graduation.
