The Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), the umbrella body representing pharmacists across the country, marked the close of the year with its End-Year Dinner and Awards Ceremony held on December 18, 2025, in Westlands.
The event brought together industry professionals to celebrate excellence, professionalism, and the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery.
Founded in 1964 and rooted in the former Pharmaceutical Society of East Africa, PSK was established to enable pharmacists to apply their professional expertise in patient care.
Over the years, the society has remained central in promoting ethical practice, setting professional standards, and advocating for the welfare of pharmacists nationwide.
Celebrating Style and Professional Camaraderie
A major highlight of the evening was the Best Dressed Awards, with winners crowned in both the men’s and women’s categories. The process was interactive, with each table nominating a representative before participants voted to determine the final winners, adding excitement and engagement to the celebration.
Guest of Honour Calls for Value Creation and Employee Welfare
The ceremony was graced by Dr Ouma Oluga, Principal Secretary for Medical Services at the Ministry of Health, who served as the Guest of Honour. In his keynote address, Dr Oluga challenged professionals to focus on continuous value creation.
“As human beings, we should rise every morning with the intention of increasing value. That value can be created anywhere in life and not necessarily within one profession,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of employee welfare, linking fair compensation and positive work environments to improved service delivery.
“A happy employee becomes a satisfied employee, and satisfied employees create satisfied customers,” Dr Oluga noted.
The Principal Secretary also highlighted the government’s role in enabling industry growth through supportive policies, citing floriculture and horticulture as examples of sectors that thrive when supported by a conducive regulatory and economic environment.
“When government creates the right conditions, industries expand, productivity improves, and more jobs are created,” he added.
Strengthening the Future of Pharmacy in Kenya
The event served as both a celebration and a moment of reflection for the pharmaceutical profession.
It reaffirmed PSK’s commitment to ethical standards, professional development, and strengthening the healthcare system.
As PSK looks ahead, the end-of-year dinner underscored the society’s enduring role in shaping a resilient, respected, and impactful pharmaceutical sector in Kenya
