In a move to deepen economic collaboration, the State Department of Investment Promotion (SDIP) of Kenya and the Netherlands Business Hub Kenya (NLBH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The agreement aims to promote investment opportunities in Kenya, both locally and internationally, and was inked during the State Visit of the King and Queen of the Netherlands to Kenya.
A Strategic Partnership
The MOU underscores the Kenyan government’s recognition of the Netherlands as one of its largest trade and investment partners.
Principal Secretary of the State Department of Investment Promotion, Mr. Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, highlighted the significance of the Dutch business community in Kenya, emphasizing its role in driving trade and investment.
Public-Private Sector Collaboration
Jules Delahaije, Chairman of the Netherlands Business Hub, welcomed the partnership as a testament to the value of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
He noted that the agreement exemplifies mutual support to enhance Kenya’s investment climate and promote business opportunities.
Connecting Communities
Yvonne Oerlemans, General Manager of the Netherlands Business Hub Kenya, expressed enthusiasm for the MOU, calling it a recognition of the organization’s commitment to connecting business communities in Kenya and between Kenya and the Netherlands.
She emphasized that these connections will spur growth, knowledge transfer, and networking opportunities.
Strengthening Economic Ties
Dutch Ambassador to Kenya, Hon. Henk-Jan Bakker, reiterated the importance of strong government-private sector partnerships in fostering business growth.
He stated that the MOU will bolster economic ties between Kenya and the Netherlands, creating new avenues for trade and investment.
This agreement marks a significant step in Kenya’s efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen bilateral relations with the Netherlands.
