  • Glovo together with Food4Education and Food Banking Kenya distributed more than 1.3 Million meals to tackle classroom and community Hunger;

Glovo, a leading technological platform connecting customers, businesses, and riders, offering multicategory on-demand services from local restaurants, grocers and supermarkets, and high street retail stores, highlighted the profound impact of its local social good initiatives, announcing that its strategic partnerships with Food4Education and Food Banking Kenya have resulted in the distribution of millions of meals to vulnerable communities.

These collaborations underscore Glovo’s commitment to generate a positive impact where it operates and to combat food insecurity and reduce food waste across Kenya together with local NGOs.

Since the inception of these partnerships, Glovo has provided essential support to both organizations, enabling them to scale their unique models and deepen their impact.

The initiatives focus on two critical areas of the food ecosystem: providing nutritious school lunches to improve educational outcomes and rescuing surplus agricultural produce to support food-insecure populations.

By partnering directly with farms and producers, Food Banking Kenya is on the front lines of the fight against food waste, rescuing surplus produce before it’s lost.

This powerful model is about more than just redistribution, it’s about building a more resilient agricultural community through farmer training and innovation.

Glovo’s support ensures this fresh produce can be efficiently collected and delivered to vulnerable populations, turning potential waste into critical nutrition.

In the last 12 months food surplus has translated into more than 1,304,026 meals to those who needed the most.

“Our mission extends beyond convenience; it’s about building stronger, more resilient communities, “said Caroline Mutuku, General Manager for Glovo Kenya.

“Working with Food Banking Kenya allows us to make a real, practical difference,” said Caroline Mutuku, General Manager for Glovo Kenya.

“By helping to move rescued food to where it’s needed most, we’re supporting communities, reducing waste, and ensuring that no good food goes to waste while people go hungry.”

“We are delighted with our collaboration with Glovo. Their partnership enables us to consistently deliver meals every month and is essential to the success of our Agriculture Recovery Program.

This collaboration has been truly impactful, and we deeply appreciate Glovo’s commitment to supporting our mission to alleviate hunger, reduce food loss and waste, as well as combat malnutrition” Said John Gathungu, Executive Director at Food Banking Kenya.

Glovo’s partnership with Food4Education, focuses on ensuring that children in public primary schools have access to the nutritious meals they need to learn and thrive.

Food4Education’s innovative model involves a highly efficient, end-to-end process. The organization receives bulk food donations, prepares meals in state-of-the-art central kitchens, and invests in building modern, on-site kitchens in schools.

These meals are then distributed daily to students using Food4Education’s “Tap2Eat” technology, a digital mobile platform that allows parents to pay for the subsidized lunches using mobile money.

Through a fixed monthly financial contribution, Glovo has supported in the last 12 months the cost of 56,742, nutritious school lunches.

“Our collaboration with Food4Education is a prime example of how technology and strategic financial support can create a tangible impact on the ground.

By ensuring children have access to a hot meal at school, we are not just fighting hunger, we are investing in the educational outcomes and future potential of the next generation.

This World Food Day, we celebrate the power of such partnerships to drive meaningful change.” said Caroline Mutuku, General Manager for Glovo Kenya.

“We appreciate our partnership with Glovo, which enables us to provide nutritious meals through our School Feeding Program.

Their support is instrumental in advancing our mission to end classroom hunger, and we value their continued collaboration and shared commitment to improving children’s well-being” said Liviya David, Director of Development and Impact at Food4Education.

While global food production is sufficient to feed everyone on the planet, hunger and food poverty remain among the most urgent challenges of our time.

By leveraging technology, logistics, and strong local partnerships, Delivery Hero and its brands, including Glovo, are helping close the food access gap and ensure that food reaches those who need it most.

That’s why Delivery Hero has committed to facilitating the donation of over 100 million meals in 2025, working together with the UN World Food Programme, The Global Foodbanking Network, and local NGOs around the world.

As part of this global effort, Glovo contributes through its Glovo Access platform, which offers technology free of charge to NGOs to help them deliver food to communities faster and efficiently.

In 2024 alone, 7 million meals reached people in need through Glovo Access, and this year Glovo is committed to help NGOs deliver over 14 million meals. Glovo is working hand in hand with more than 300 NGOs and food banks to tackle hunger in the communities where it operates.
