At the 54th Africa Concours d’Elegance, SportPesa unveiled a full-scale replica of the 2019 Racing Point Formula 1 car, turning the historic Ngong Racecourse into a hub of excitement and nostalgia. The pink, white, and blue livery brought back memories of the 2019 season, when Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll raced under the SportPesa Racing Point banner.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Under the “Home For Good” initiative, SportPesa has promised to keep this F1 experience in Kenya. The car will be taken beyond the Concours grounds and into public spaces through a planned mall tour, giving everyday Kenyans the chance to experience the spectacle of F1 up close.
SportPesa Head of Operations, Benard Chauro, spoke about the emotional connection fans have with the sport.
“In 2019, Kenyans watched SportPesa Racing Point compete on the world stage, and that created a connection with motorsport fans that has stayed with us. Bringing this car home is about reconnecting with that history and giving people the opportunity to experience it beyond the screen,” he said.
The visual impact of the car is undeniable. It’s one thing to watch an F1 race on a screen, but standing next to a full-scale replica is a completely different experience. The intricate details of the front wing, the massive racing tires, and the iconic SportPesa branding make it a must-see attraction.
Chauro added, “This car is here for good. It belongs to Kenya and to every fan who has ever dreamed of standing next to an F1 car. We want to take it to the people, to malls and public spaces, so that more Kenyans can get up close to the Formula 1 experience.”
