Amsons Group, a leading Pan-African energy and manufacturing conglomerate, has officially commenced the integration of Bamburi Cement, a prominent Kenyan cement manufacturer, into its operations.
The move follows the group’s acquisition of over 95% of Bamburi’s issued equity shares for $183 million last year, marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy.
The integration process is being managed through Amsons Industries (K) Ltd, the group’s Kenyan subsidiary and investment arm. In a statement, Amsons Group Managing Director Mr. Edha Nahdi expressed confidence in the seamless execution of the integration, emphasizing the company’s commitment to minimizing operational and administrative disruptions.
“I would like to assure all Bamburi Cement stakeholders that we are committed to maintaining and improving the high operational and commercial standards set by Lafarge and Holcim Ltd. This is our promise to our customers, employees, banks, suppliers, and all stakeholders,” Nahdi said. He further highlighted Amsons Group’s goal to uphold and enhance the operational standards and policies established by Bamburi’s previous majority shareholders.
To ensure continuity and excellence, Amsons Group will retain the professional services of Bamburi Cement’s executive management team, led by CEO Mr. Mohit Kapoor. Nahdi referred to Bamburi Cement as the “newest member of the Amsons family,” underscoring its pivotal role in the group’s Pan-African expansion strategy.
“Together with our flagship cement operation, Camel Cement, and the developing Mbeya Cement operations, we are delighted to welcome Bamburi Cement to this progressive and dynamic family,” Nahdi added. He also outlined a strategic growth plan for Bamburi Cement, centered on driving growth and contributing significantly to national development in Kenya.
Founded in 2006 in Tanzania, Amsons Group began as a family-owned business rooted in integrity and a vision of mutual prosperity.
Initially focused on the importation of bulk oil and petroleum products under the Camel Oil Tanzania retail brand, the group has since diversified into multiple industries, cementing its position as a key player in the African energy and manufacturing sectors.
With the integration of Bamburi Cement, Amsons Group aims to strengthen its footprint in the cement industry while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and development across the continent.
