Unaitas SACCO, together with Critical Mass Nairobi, hosted a dynamic edition of the Toto Mass Kids’ Day Out at the Children’s Traffic Park, drawing an impressive turnout of families, young cyclists, and community partners.
The event promoted safe mobility for children while nurturing early financial awareness through fun, interactive activities.
From as early as 8:00 am, the park buzzed with activity as young cyclists arrived with bikes, helmets, whistles, and unmatched excitement.
The main ride kicked off at 9:00 am, led by Critical Mass marshals and supported by officers from the Nairobi Traffic Police, who ensured a safe and educational experience. Police teams conducted demonstrations on road signs, lane discipline, protective gear, and the importance of observing children’s cycling rules.

Beyond cycling, Unaitas SACCO hosted an engaging Family Engagement Zone, where children learned about money management, saving habits, and responsibility through play-based activities. Parents received guidance on nurturing a savings culture for their families, with special focus on the SACCO’s Jasiri Account, a flagship product designed to help young people begin their financial journey early.
Strong Community Support
The event enjoyed wide participation and backing from:
Families from across Nairobi and the surrounding areas
Traffic Police and county security teams
Youth cycling advocates
Early childhood educators
Community wellness groups
Parents commended the initiative for offering a rare, structured, and safe environment for children to cycle an opportunity still limited in many neighbourhoods.
What They Said
“This event proves that when children feel safe, they thrive,” said Kennedy Karinga, Head of Marketing at Unaitas SACCO.
“We are proud to contribute to a culture where children can play, ride, and learn. Most importantly, we reminded families that financial confidence begins early, every shilling saved today gives our children a stronger tomorrow.”
A representative from Critical Mass Nairobi added:
“Toto Mass has become a movement of its own, bringing together families who want safer streets and healthier cities. Today’s turnout shows a growing demand for child-friendly public spaces.”
