Abu Dhabi-based G42 and Paris-headquartered Mistral AI have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop advanced AI platforms and infrastructure, marking a significant step in global AI collaboration.
The agreement, unveiled during the Choose France summit, aligns with AI cooperation frameworks endorsed by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron in February 2025.
The partnership leverages G42’s operational scale through its subsidiaries, including Core42 for AI infrastructure and Inception for AI platform development, alongside Mistral AI’s expertise in open-weight large language models.
The collaboration aims to integrate Mistral AI’s platform with G42’s AI stack, prioritizing technical autonomy and intellectual property governance to ensure scalable, innovative solutions.
“This partnership sets a new standard for AI development, balancing sovereignty with interoperability and ambition with accountability,” said Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42. “We’re building a foundation for a digitally interconnected future rooted in trust and transparency.”
The agreement spans AI model training, infrastructure development, and industry-specific applications targeting markets in Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South. Both companies will explore opportunities to promote each other’s offerings in existing and new international markets.
Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, said, “G42 shares our vision for accessible, open AI. This alliance accelerates our mission and extends AI’s benefits beyond traditional tech hubs.”
The partnership also includes potential collaboration with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi, focusing on advanced research, talent development, and translating cutting-edge AI research into practical solutions. “We’re excited to collaborate with G42 and Mistral AI to advance next-generation foundational models, energy efficiency, and safety,” said Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI.
This agreement underscores a commitment to fostering AI innovation, openness, and inclusive growth, particularly in underserved regions, positioning the G42-Mistral AI partnership as a model for global AI cooperation.
