Global healthcare company, B. Braun Pharmaceuticals has announced the commissioning of a 485 kWp rooftop solar system at its Athi River facility.

The project, a joint initiative by RUBiSOL (a joint venture between Solarise Africa and RUBiS Energy Kenya), marks a pivotal moment in B. Braun’s commitment to eco-friendly operations and energy efficiency.

Completed at the end of March, the state-of-the-art installation encompasses 1,102 high-performance 440W solar modules and a robust inverter configuration, including two 100kW, two 50kW, and two 33kW inverters.

The substantial investment is projected to deliver estimated lifetime savings of USD 393,220 over the contract period and is anticipated to offset approximately 3,995.9 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

“We are excited to take this significant step toward a cleaner future,” stated Mr. Rodgers Oloo, Project Engineer at B. Braun Pharmaceuticals. “This project is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainable development and energy independence.”

The collaboration underscores the escalating demand for decentralized energy solutions among Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients across East Africa. It further highlights the impactful integrated offering of RUBiSOL, which combines local presence, extensive sector expertise, and intelligent financing options.

Jan Albert Valk, Co-Founder and CEO of Solarise Africa, commented, “Projects like this demonstrate the real potential of renewable energy in transforming industries. We’re proud to work with B. Braun, a leader in healthcare, to power progress through clean, affordable, and reliable solar solutions.”

Olivier Sabrié, CEO of RUBiS Energie East Africa and Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya, added, “Partnering with B. Braun on this initiative is an honour. This collaboration highlights the cost and carbon savings achievable through decentralized solar and paves the way for delivering tailored power solutions across commercial clients in East Africa.”

Beyond significant cost reductions, this initiative positions B. Braun Pharmaceuticals as an active supporter of national energy security and aligns its operations with the global imperative for climate-resilient business practices.

The project sets a precedent for sustainable industrial development in the region, showcasing the tangible benefits of transitioning to renewable energy sources.
